Good morning, friends! Welcome to my website. Today, I will show you how to clean your CPAP gear. Whether you own an AirSense 11 or any other CPAP machine from any other manufacturer, this guide is for you. The cleaning procedures are the same across the board. All CPAP machines have a humidification chamber, tubing, and filters, which are very easy to clean.

We don’t need to overcomplicate things. There’s no need for fancy ozone cleaners or SoClean devices. All we need is some good old-fashioned soap and water. That’s all! Let’s go ahead and get started.

ResMed AirSense 11 Cleaning Tutorial

The first thing we do every day is straightforward. We empty the water chamber and, if desired, wipe down the heater plate with a cloth. Then, let it dry, and you’re done!

I recommend getting some wipes for your humidification chamber to freshen up your mask every night. These wipes not only smell great but also help keep your mask sealed tightly. Wipe down the cushion daily with a mask wipe, and that’s your cleaning done in just a matter of seconds. Once a week, you can do a more thorough clean by using hot soapy water. Just heat the water as hot as your kitchen or bathroom sink can get and add a small amount of soap to make it soapy. This will take a bit longer, but it’s simple.

This time, I recommend taking apart the humidification chamber and submerging it in the hot soapy water. Please give it a good rinse, let it soak for a bit, and then rinse it with fresh water to remove any soap residue. Make sure to rinse it well and let it dry completely. If you use tap water or if mineral deposits are building up on the heater plate, it’s a good idea to give it an extra rinse to prevent buildup.

If mineral deposits are building up inside the humidification chamber, you can use a simple solution to remove them. The chamber holds 380 milliliters. So add roughly 40 milliliters of vinegar (about a shot glass) and fill it up to the maximum level with the water. Let it soak to dissolve the mineral deposits, then wipe it out with a cloth. This should bring it back to its original state. A little clip on the side of the chamber allows you to remove the inner part for cleaning. Press the clip to remove it.

To clean the CPAP tube, you can use a tube brush or drop a small amount of soap in one end, fill the tube with water, and squeeze it with your thumb. Once you’ve given it a good rinse, you can just hang it up to dry. To clean your machine, wipe down the surface to remove any dust with a microfiber cloth. You can also take apart your mask to clean it thoroughly. That’s it! You’re now done cleaning all the components of your CPAP system.

It’s essential to not only wipe down the components of your mask but also to disassemble them and clean them thoroughly. Submerge the components in hot soapy water, move them around, and wipe them down with a cloth. Allow them to dry completely, out of direct sunlight, which the manufacturer recommends. One frequently overlooked step in maintaining your CPAP system is changing the filter. Although the manufacturer suggests changing it only once every six months, it’s recommended to change it once a month to ensure optimal performance.

Maintaining a clean and fresh air supply is crucial for the performance of your CPAP device. ResMed offers two different styles of filters to choose from: a standard filter, which is thick and fluffy but may not effectively prevent dust and particles from entering the device and affecting both the motor and airway, and a hypoallergenic filter, designed for individuals with allergies or hay fever, which provides a much better filtration system. Changing the filter at the start of every month is recommended to ensure optimal performance. This simple step can make a big difference in keeping the air clean and fresh.

Discover the benefits of using a hypoallergenic filter for your CPAP machine. This post demonstrates the difference between a regular filter and a hypoallergenic one. The hypoallergenic filter is much denser and prevents more dust from entering your machine. Suppose you can’t find a hypoallergenic filter for your AirSense 11. In that case, I suggest using the AirSense 11 filter as a template and cutting out a hypoallergenic one from the AirSense 10. I hope you found this post helpful.
